What's Happening

Mum and Dad are expecting to have lunch with the family at Palm Beach Golf Club, and are looking forward to that. They will be arriving there at about 12.45, so we are hoping that those of you who are coming will be there by about 12.30.

We will have lunch and speeches there, making is as informal and personal as we can.  Those of you who are able to are invited back to Bayview Gardens, which has a lovely large lounge area, for cake and coffee and some more visiting.  We will have a surprise video there as well and a copy of the web site so they can see what has been happening, read the messages that have been sent, all quite unknown to them.

You will all be aware of some of their story.  The video has something to do with that. In 1943, during WWII, Bill trained in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada as a TAG (Telegraphist Air Gunner) in the Royal Navy, Fleet Air Arm. George Egan, now a teacher at Yarmouth, and whose family had made Bill welcome as a 17 year old trainee, has been running a course at his school, where students researched people and events associated with the TAG camp. As a result musicals have been written and produced with very recent performances in Nova Scotia and in England.  This has developed so that it is now an entity outside of the school and school curriculum. You might be interested in the project’s web site: www.440productions.ca

Because of photos in the Egan family album of a very young Bill, George knew of him. The wonders of the Internet did the rest. Part of the recent musical 'stories' have featured 'Bill and Gwen'. George has sent a DVD of one of the Bill and Gwen scenes, which we will all see.

Mum and Dad have no idea that we have been 'chatting' with George, who has proves to be a very willing co-conspirator. Some of the music you will hear is a CD from the show.
